That is not necessary. [He was merely asking, he has no particular preference towards whether Cecil enters this plane or not.] It is just... peculiar.

[The celestials of his world would feel most natural in the heavenly plane. It is where they were born, where they serve their goddess. To enter the material realm and intervene is an uncommon practice. Ain may have even been the first. Observing the material realm, on the other hand, is a far simpler task that should not require a physical presence.

But it's difficult to put those questions into words. What sort of being is a seraph who dwells in the material realm?]

[ He's much used to Ain finding a lot of things peculiar, so it doesn't elicit much of a response from him. It's but a minor detail in the grand scheme of things. ]

Many things will be peculiar if they are not of your world.

[ Change.... must come from within. ]

[He's only ever known the rules of his world, and the rules his Goddess instructed him to follow. Seeing those sacred laws broken and ignored so openly has been difficult to accept. It's not so much his faith being challenged, but...]

If he is allowed to live in the world of mortals, do they also remember him?

[He shouldn't yearn for something that's forbidden of him, but perhaps if other gods have made such exceptions... is he being too optimistic to hope that Ishmael might change her mind?]

[ Change is the only immutable thing in the multiverse. Change, or be swept away by its tides. ]

He is to lead them and set an example of what humanity should strive for. They will remember.

[ It's not hard to tell what Ain might be thinking, but maybe this isn't the time to say anything yet. ]

I see.

[Ain goes quiet for a time after that, his aura faintly wavering with his thoughts. It's one matter to understand differences and accept them, but he can't impose anything on his Goddess, nor can he betray her for his own selfish desires. A difficult matter, if he's to eventually return to his mission.]

... Is that a privilege that was earned? Or is it simply a different way of doing things?

It is a different way of doing things.

[ He can see the good points of Ain's system, but it was moot if the people who operated it still had emotions. It was unfortunate. ]

[personal profile] scheinheilig 2017-03-13 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Yes, it was a flawed system once emotions became involved, but Celestials were never intended to have emotions. Ain's guide of humanity was only meant to be just that—a guise. But no matter how much he tries to ignore it, he can no longer deny that humanity has left its mark on him.]

Ishmael forbids getting involved with mortals. My purpose is to restore the El, and after that I'll return to her. There is to be no trace of my existence left behind. That is how it's always been. To disappear, and to be forgotten.

[He's not supposed to desire anything more, but, well, here he is. Desiring.]

[ There's a longer pause before he responds, as he breaks away a part of his attention from his calculations. ]

What do you wish for yourself, Ainchase?

[personal profile] scheinheilig 2017-03-15 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
I cannot abandon my mission, but...

[He could settle for disappearing, if it's what he has to do to save the world Elsword and his friends live in. That part is unavoidable. But if he could still leave some proof of himself in their world, to be missed and mourned like the other friends they've lost...]

If one rule could be reconsidered, then... I would like for them to remember me. That is all I wish for.

[ It is cruel to force a being with emotions to make a sacrifice. ]

How will she erase you, if I may ask? If you so wish, I can use my power to make a new vessel to carry your soul.

[personal profile] scheinheilig 2017-03-15 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
I'll return to her through the El. [...and if that sounds like he's just repeating what he already said, well, he honestly doesn't know how it works beyond that. Celestials aren't supposed to ask these kinds of questions or worry about what comes after. Will he leave behind the humanity he's gained and go back to being a soulless being? Will the El absorb and break him down completely? Will he just lose his body and otherwise remain the same? He has no idea.

He pauses, staring at LL in a pointless attempt to discern his motives. That's certainly a bold offer, but to form that kind of contract with another god could be dangerous—or worse, treason to his Goddess. He narrows his eyes, unable to hide the slight tinge of anger in his tone at the thought of it.]

What do you gain from giving me a vessel?

Nothing.

[ And that is all. The truth of it. ]

It is your decision to make.
