the dragon lord tsundere; gomen it's almost bedtime and I just threw this together
A village in the forest - a picturesque forest, complete with a stunning waterfall, fruit-laden trees and beautiful hills - is threatened by the creatures that live in said forest. A witch, they said, had taken over and was corrupting the animals - and even the plants. Wolves suddenly walked on their hind legs and targeted children specifically. Birds of prey had mutated into giants that could destroy houses. And who knew what lived in the treetops and the lake?
One can guess which two unlucky men were tasked to cleanse the forest, and save the poor hapless villagers. Gosh, this sounds like something straight out of a video game.
Enter Edgeworth, sitting down briefly on a rock, saber in hand as he sighs.]
I don't understand why they don't move to another location, however.
ITS OK!! IT'S LOVELY
Stubbornness. Attachment. [ Stupidity. ] Let's get this done and move on. Dallying here is only wasting time.
[ Somewhere on this land is a shrine that may get them home... probably. ]
A JAMJAR RPG with which to quench my thirst for dumb action shenanigans
But yes, the sooner they complete their task and save a bunch of terrified folk, the sooner they can return to their respective homes.
...assuming that THAT is exactly what will happen and it won't suddenly trick them or whatever.
Edgeworth stands up from the rock to look around. So far, all is well...and yet, all is so eerily quiet.]
Not if we dally in order to observe our surroundings and find any clues that will help us in our task.
the best tbh
True. [ Well, he's used to being in his native land, so he does have less knowledge here. ] Are you sensitive to magic?
[ He can do some, but not all. ]
...okay maybe semi-jamjar because they can return home by themselves afterward
Anyway, he tilts his head slightly.]
If by "sensitive" you mean "easily able to detect", then my answer is no. Although I think in every context I wouldn't say I'm sensitive to magic.
[He can be healed magically, spells damage him normally with no increased or decreased effects, etc.]
yeah man what fun woudl it be if they were trapped
In my world, wide-ranging curses tend to be able to be traced back to their caster. Though I do not detect anything in this area.
[ Which means they should move, in his opinion. ]
no subject
[Edgeworth nods slowly.]
I haven't found anything of note, either. Lead the way.
[He at least defers to the other man's abilities.]
no subject
When they're faced with denser foliage, he simply holds out his sword in front of him and a cold aura emanates from it, forcing the plants to wilt a little and out of their way. If it doesn't work, he'd simply hack through them. ]
Let me know if you see anything noteworthy.
no subject
But when he hears the sound of rustling foliage, his neck snaps upward - and sees a flock of flying black birds cawing up a storm. That shouldn't be a reason for concern...if they weren't dive bombing towards them and didn't smell of carrion.]
Look out! [Edgeworth whips out his saber, ready to cut down the birds that even get near him.]
no subject
She has come to strike at us. [ He brandishes his sword as a warning to the others. ] Keep some alive... we could question one.
[ The ease with which he says it implies he's done it before. ]
no subject
[That's all Edgeworth can say. One smart bird veers away from Boreas to target Edgeworth, and it swoops down toward his head. He takes a big step back and slashes at it with his sword. Unfortunately, the creature is fast enough that its wing is just grazed, and it veers away to circle and try again.]
no subject
Begone!
[ He focuses a bolt of ice from the tip of his sword, managing to strike one bird and bring it to the ground. How is Edgeworth faring? ]
no subject
I got one! I just need to immobilize it enough - [He ducks as another bird swoops over his head, bringing with it its disgusting stench.] to keep it alive, but with no chance - [Edgeworth stabs his sword upward, but misses. He tries again.] - of escape!
[With that last word, he lops off part of the second crow's wing, sending it off its course as it wheels and corkscrews.]
no subject
Good!
[ Is one enough? One seems to be enough. He's in the mood to skewer the rest. ]
no subject
Anyway, the injured crow he took down is trying to hop away. Mercilessly Edgeworth drives the point of his saber into one of its wings, pinning it to the ground.]
Let's see if these things are capable of speech.
no subject
Speak, vermin! Where is your master?
[ The crow, surprisingly, can talk. Even if it's screeching speech, it's understandable. ]
P=please! Have mercy!
[ IT'S NOT ANSWERING THE QUESTION... ]
no subject
He flinches when he hears the bird speak. Really, why should he be surprised again? And yet, he still is. Plus, the screech wasn't exactly music to his ears.]
So, they are capable of speech. Perhaps we can bargain with it, as well.
[Edgeworth peers down at the trapped bird, his glare easing up only slightly.]
Answer his question, and we'll...consider sparing your life.
